Visual artist Omar Mahfoudi is exhibiting his work for the first time at the L'Atelier 21 art gallery in Casablanca, from January 24 to February 24, 2023. Between Spleen and Ideal, this exhibition, entitled I was dreaming of the past, is an invitation to travel.
Omar Mahfoudi's painting is characterized by a transparency that makes the landscapes and characters he portrays both ethereal and evanescent. Writer Olivier Rachet describes this clear mark of the artist's work: “When we look at the Moroccan painter's canvases, we wonder what this effusion or dilution is all about. First of all, his fluidity, achieved today by the use of acrylic, but elsewhere by the use of an ink that evaporates randomly on paper or canvas, connects subject and landscape in a movement deliberately marked by indistinction.”
