The visual artist Mohamed Fariji is once again taking over the L’Atelier 21 art gallery in Casablanca, from February 18 to March 22, 2025, for a solo exhibition entitled The Imaginary Aquarium, Episode #2.

This exhibition is dedicated to one of the once well-known but now forgotten spaces: the Casablanca Aquarium.

This abandoned aquarium is notable for being adorned with beautiful ceramics that focus on the theme of marine biodiversity. Mohamed Fariji brings to life, in a way, the figurative world of the Casablanca Aquarium through a project he presents at L’Atelier 21.

Through this project, Mohamed Fariji questions local mythologies, offers alternative narratives, and imagines possible reappropriations of this forgotten space. This project reflects his commitment to the preservation and enhancement of places of memory, while engaging citizens in a collective reflection on the future of their city.
