The title of this exhibition, L’enfance de l’art, refers to that quest for spontaneity, free creation, and pure joy that lay at the heart of the aesthetic approach of major twentieth-century figures such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, and Joan Miró. Abdelkrim Ouazzani undoubtedly belongs to this family of artists. The title also alludes to the decisive influence of young Abdelkrim —who made his own toys— on the adult Ouazzani, one of the most important Moroccan artists, who developed a distinctive body of work that substantially enriches the national heritage.
