Mo Baala was born in Casablanca in 1986.

A multi-disciplinary artist, he grew up in the heart of the souks of Taroudant, his home town. He drew most of his artistic and creative education from traditional arts and crafts from Morocco, Africa and elsewhere.

His passions for reading, cinema, music and philosophy also fueled his creative universe. Essential encounters and the Internet have also played a crucial role in her artistic education. Sources of inspiration just as eclectic as the form his work takes.

Mo Baala has never specialized in one art form. He moves between drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and graffiti. He also creates installations for his musical performances. He also explores the photographic medium, street art and action painting. Recycling, textiles, music and lyricism play an essential role in his creations.

His work has been included in numerous public and private collections, including that of the Fondation Alliances (Morocco) and the Fondation Nubuke (Ghana).

Mo Baala lives and works between Marrakech and Taroudant.

Mo Baala was born in 1986 in Casablanca.

A self-taught artist, he grew up in Taroudant, in southern Morocco, surrounded by the city’s souks and bazaars. His visual universe draws from traditional Moroccan and African arts and crafts, as well as literature, cinema and music.

His multidisciplinary practice encompasses drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, graffiti, musical and poetic performance, installation and photography. Shaped by a free and instinctive approach to creation, his work combines recycled materials, textiles, painterly gestures and vernacular references in compositions where popular culture intersects with formal experimentation.

In 2016, his participation in the Marrakech Biennale brought wider visibility to his work. Since then, his work has been presented in several international exhibitions and art fairs, notably in Marseille, Turin, Paris, London and Marrakech.

His works are held in several public and private collections, including the Fondation Alliances (Morocco), the Elisabeth Bauchet-Bouhlal Collection (Morocco) and the Nubuke Foundation (Ghana).
