Abdelkrim Ouazzani was born in 1954 in Tétouan.

Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Tétouan and subsequently at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he later directed the Institut national des Beaux-Arts in Tétouan, where he taught several generations of artists.

His work explores the relationships between sculpture, painting and colour, as well as the boundaries between the living and the inanimate. Rusted iron, line and colour are central elements of a practice in which material plays an essential role. Hybrid figures — part animal, part human — fish, birds and rusted wheels form a recurring visual vocabulary that runs throughout his work.

In dialogue with the international avant-gardes, Ouazzani develops a contemporary visual language rooted in forms and motifs drawn from Moroccan tradition.

His works are held in several collections in Morocco, including those of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Ministry of Culture, the Al Mada, Alliances and TGCC foundations, as well as Bank Al-Maghrib and Saham Bank.
