Hakim Ghazali

Hakim Ghazali was born in Casablanca in 1963.

He chose to pursue painting at a very young age. After obtaining his baccalaureate in visual arts at Jaber Ibnou Hayane High School in Casablanca in 1986, he enrolled at the School of Applied Arts in Épinal, France, where he received thorough training in graphic arts. He then studied at the Higher School of Art and Design in Amiens from 1991 to 1993, before completing his education at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, graduating in 1996. His first solo exhibition took place in 1985.

If one term defines Hakim Ghazali’s latest work, it is the quality of the wall. Each canvas is so dense, its textures so varied, that it appears to have been weathered by time, like a wall exposed to the scorching sun after heavy rainfall. Rarely has Hakim Ghazali expressed the maturity of his art with such brilliance.

Hakim Ghazali’s works are held in prestigious institutional collections, including the British Museum in London.

Hakim Ghazali lives and works between Dubai, Paris and Benslimane.
