M’barek Bouhchichi

We are pleased to share the solo exhibition of M’barek Bouhchichi currently on view at the Fondation H in Antananarivo.
Developed following a six-week residency in Madagascar, Les mains des poètes brings together a new body of work produced between Morocco and Antananarivo. The project evolved through exchanges with local craftspeople — including blacksmiths, ceramists and weavers — whose knowledge directly informed the making of the works.
Curated by Hobisoa Raininoro, the exhibition explores the relationships between gesture, orality and memory, in dialogue with systems of knowledge transmission. It notably echoes Sorabe, an ancient Arabico-Malagasy writing system embedded in practices of preserving and circulating knowledge.
This project continues Bouhchichi’s investigation into gesture and writing as subtle forms of memory.
