Vingt ans, une oeuvres, Collective exhibition

This exhibition reflects on the first twenty years of King Mohammed VI’s reign. Indeed, 30 July 2019 marked the twentieth anniversary of his accession to the throne. Over these two decades, Morocco underwent significant social, economic and cultural change. The expansion of the motorway network accelerated; the Kingdom became Africa’s leading car exporter; and a high-speed rail link connected Casablanca to Tangier. The status of women evolved through the new Family Code, and mothers gained the right to pass Moroccan nationality on to their children. A party with an Islamic frame of reference, the PJD, came to lead the government; a new Constitution was adopted; and Amazigh was recognised as an official language alongside Arabic. Moroccans felt more firmly rooted in their continent thanks to a royal vision decisively oriented towards Africa, and Morocco rejoined the African Union. Major cultural projects were also launched, including the Grand Theatre of Casablanca and the theatre designed by Zaha Hadid in Rabat.
