For this exhibition, the artists were invited to reflect on the distinctive touch that best defines Moroccan visual arts. Drawing on personal histories or collective memory, they reveal the quality that situates an artwork within a broader artistic expression that can be described as Moroccan.
Each exhibited work contains an element of identity that resonates with its creator, recalling a moment—or moments—that most clearly embodies their sense of belonging to a culture and a shared frame of mind.
Sixteen artists are taking part in this exhibition: Saad Ben Cheffaj, Mustapha Boujemaoui, Hassan Darsi, André Elbaz, Mohamed El Baz, Nabil El Makhloufi, Safaa Erruas, Mohamed Fariji, Hassan Hajjaj, Majida Khattari, Faouzi Laatiris, Fouad Maazouz, Najia Mehadji, Houssein Miloudi, Mohamed Mourabiti and Yamou. Each has explored the “Moroccan Touch” through their own sensibility and visual language. The result is striking: a wide range of approaches to a theme that both inspires and challenges the artists.
